I had a recruiter phone screen a few months back. The recruiter spent most of the call talking about how great McCarthy is, and barely asked about my qualifications. I thought I was a good fit for the role and my experience matched what they were looking for, given that I am in the same industry. The recruiter promised to get back to me quickly to schedule an interview, but I never heard from them again. They ghosted me.

We had a phone interview, it was about 15-30 mins. We started with light chat then moved on to discussing how my background fits the role. After I introduced myself a bit, the recruiter asked about my expected salary range and if I had a particular number in mind.

The recruiter reached out about the opportunity and asked if I was interested in interviewing. I confirmed my interest, and we proceeded with the initial screening call. The recruiter seemed very positive about my candidacy and mentioned that the team would likely want to interview me, scheduling a second round. When I inquired about the timeline, she estimated a response within a week. However, a week passed with no follow-up, so I reached out again. Another week passed, and I followed up a second time. After a third week, I followed up a third time, but still received no response. It's disappointing when you're not moved forward, especially when you're not given a clear explanation or if circumstances change, the company could have just said they went in a different direction. Being ghosted is unprofessional.

This is the first position the division opens so they have no experience hiring for their own team. They're looking for unrealistic expectations of a candidate that has director or management experience to join an IC level position with a lower compensation then what is posted in the job description. They don't follow-up after interviews and have completely ghosted candidates. I'm not even sure they need a new individual since the req number would be 2-4 reqs for the whole year.
