I was really excited about this job because it seemed to fit my skills perfectly. First, I spoke with HR, and it was a good chat where we went over the job details and salary. Then, a few weeks later, I interviewed with the hiring manager. We talked more about the technical side of my work, my research papers, and the problems the team at MGB is working on. That also went well. Another couple of weeks passed, and I was told they decided to go with someone else, though the decision was tough. I appreciated being kept in the loop, but it was a bummer that the job stayed up online for a long time after. The interviews themselves were fine, but the long wait and unclear result were discouraging.

I applied online and a recruiter contacted me the same week to talk about salary/role expectations and questions to match me with a department. Then I got to interview with the department and they asked me basic questions about my interests and experiences. I heard back from them within the day.

I was initially contacted by a recruiter and had a good conversation. They mentioned the hiring manager would reach out soon. A week later, after I followed up via email, the hiring manager called me on their personal phone. I went in for an interview the next day and it went well. They said I'd hear back by the end of the next week, or sooner. I followed up again, and the manager mentioned they had a few more interviews to do. After another week, I emailed the manager without a response, and then followed up with the recruiter to see if a decision had been made. Three days later, I got an email saying the position went to an internal candidate, even though my experience was impressive. They encouraged me to apply for future roles. I thanked the hiring manager and wished the selected candidate well.

I went through 3 rounds of interviews that took 2.5 months to complete. They discussed salary expectations with me, and then changed my application status to "no longer in consideration". I didn't get an email or any notification about not getting the job. It's really frustrating to go through multiple rounds, talk about salary, and get benefits info, only to be ghosted without any notice. I only found out because I checked the job portal every day. It's really bad etiquette to not let candidates know when they are no longer being considered.
