First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lumileds.
Lead Engineer
The interview process was pretty well put together and quick. The recruiter kept me in the loop, and the panel threw some good questions my way that checked my tech knowledge and how I solve problems. They seemed really keen to find the right person. All in all, it was a chill and respectful interview experience.
- Tell me about your experience with handling different types of equipment.
Finance Operations Specialist
I applied through Jobstreet and had a virtual interview. It was 6-1 interview and HR was very helpful and convenient to communicate with to schedule the interview. The interview was very laid back and no pressure at all. Prepare yourself with technical questions like the MFRS and its recognition criteria and also journal entries. There were no behavioral questions at all. The interviewer wants to find candidates who wants to learn, especially fresh graduates. Asked as many questions as you can since the interviewer goes straight to the point. Ended interview in 30 minutes.
- Mandatory question: Tell me about yourself
- Explain accounting standards you are familiar with and their recognition criteria.
- Do you have any concerns regarding this position?
Development Engineer
Applied online and then chatted with their internal recruiter a few weeks later. About a week after that, I went onsite to meet the hiring manager face-to-face. Things got delayed for about a month due to holidays and travel, but then I was invited back for a full onsite which involved a presentation and about 4-5 hours of one-on-one chats. They gave me the decision/offer within a few days after the interview. Overall, it was a good experience; the HR people were responsive and I had some interesting talks with some really smart people in the field. Nobody was aggressive and everyone seemed genuinely interested in my background and how it could help the company. As always, make sure you know your resume inside and out.
- Tell me about your experience with a particular project. What would you change about it? Were there other ways you could have approached it?
- What was your role in the so and so project? How could you have made it better? Did you consider alternative methods?
- Describe your work on the so and so project. What improvements could you have made? Were there different ways you could have executed it?
Program Manager
The hiring process is messed up and disorganized. It feels like they're trying to copy the Apple/Google interview style but without any substance. My job description and title were mixed up even before the interviews started. There was no communication or coordination between anyone. HR is slow and really incompetent, sending mixed signals. It's basically a gamble, and your experience can really depend on which team you end up talking to. My hiring manager was nice but super indecisive; for a long time after the interview, they didn't even know where to place me. The company culture is really obvious from the start. If you've been rejected, consider yourself lucky because you dodged a bullet.
