First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lemonade Insurance.
VP Communications and PR
This was a scam and a long con. I was first contacted by the VP of People for an interview. The whole process took 10 days. There was only one phone call. They said that due to security concerns, I had to enter their 'company portal' before the video call/interview. They sent official-looking documents like the Job description, a strategic business deck, an organization/reporting chart, benefits overview, and ethics documents.
- What makes you want to join Lemonade?
Claims Advocate
Applied and went through a recruiter call, then a phone screen, then back-to-back interviews, and then got ghosted. I had to chase the recruiter and send several emails asking why I didn't get an offer for a role I had experience and qualifications for. I eventually got an email that clearly violated EEOC law, so I didn't respond. Since then, none of my applications have even gotten an interview.
- What's your approach to building a team?

- What motivated you to apply to our company?
Product Manager
I had a 1-hour interview which was nice and structured. Then I got a take-home assignment. I put a lot of time into my presentation and submitted it. A few days later, I got rejected because my work lacked depth in the insurance sector. I get it, I'm not from insurance. But it would have been better to find this out earlier. This felt like a waste of my time and effort. The process wasn't respectful. If insurance knowledge was a must-have, they should have checked that at the start. I hope they change how they screen for fit before asking for big take-home tasks.
