It was a group interview with a lot of people, at least 10. They asked four questions and picked people randomly to answer. It was pretty stressful. They let us know at the end of the session if we got the job.

Behavioral Technical

For the Kmart Tech Lead role, you start with an online application. Then, you'll go through some technical assessments and behavioral interviews. They really want to see how you lead, solve problems, and if you know your tech stuff. You'll probably get asked about managing people, doing code reviews, getting projects done, and fixing problems. There might also be some group tasks to check how you work with others, mentor them, and make sure the tech stuff matches what the business needs.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • In situations where your development team disagrees on technical decisions, how do you resolve those conflicts?

I was invited for an interview with a manager. They asked me questions from a booklet they had. The questions were about my availability, if I was interested in working there, my previous jobs, and just generally getting to know me. About a week later, I got an email back through their application system.

They sat me down in the staff room in the back for the interview with the store manager, and maybe another manager. They asked me questions about where I thought I fit in the company and if I had relevant experience. It didn't need to be actual work experience, I had no employment history before and used anecdotes from high school to prove my "ability". My interview went quicker than scheduled but I still got the job.
