First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kmart Australia.
Sales Assistant
We had a chat to talk about you. We explained what we're looking for. We asked how you'll get to work, your availability, and if you can do decant work (cutting open boxes). Lastly, we discussed what you'd like to improve from working here.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What are we looking for?
- How will you commute to work?
Sales Assistant
The whole Kmart hiring thing usually starts with applying online, then they give you a call to chat, followed by interviews either in person or online. Sometimes there are also tests and background checks. Honestly, it just took forever to hear back from them.
- Given a customer service scenario, how would you respond?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a challenging customer.
- What actions would you take if a customer wished to return a product but lacked the original receipt?
Sales Assistant
It was a terrible experience. The online questions were straightforward. After applying, I got a text the next day. After the interview, I was offered a 3-month trial, but it was immediately taken back when I mentioned I have anxiety. I had applied explaining I had a disability and was with a job link for my mental health, but she wasn't aware. It's ironic that one of the questions was how would you help a team member if they were feeling down/mental health.
- How would you assist a coworker who is feeling down or struggling with their mental health?
- What strategies would you use to satisfy customer requirements?
