Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kmart Australia.
Sales Associate
They sat me down in the staff room in the back for the interview with the store manager, and maybe another manager. They asked me questions about where I thought I fit in the company and if I had relevant experience. It didn't need to be actual work experience, I had no employment history before and used anecdotes from high school to prove my "ability". My interview went quicker than scheduled but I still got the job.
- In what position do you think you want to work in?
Sales Associate
It was a smooth and easy process to get through. They were clear about what they expected and how the process would move forward. They could be a bit slow to respond sometimes but other than that, it was a pretty good interview process.
- What customer-facing roles or customer service experience have you had in the past?
Retail Sales Associate
The interview process was straightforward, focusing on questions without single correct answers, aiming instead to understand individual perspectives on work and customer service. Upon successful completion, an email will be sent confirming the pass, along with employment documents to sign and a detailed guide on how to get your first shift, set up your login, and begin your induction for Kmart.
- What makes a good team leader in your opinion?
- How do you think work should be assigned?
