First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Keystone.
Associate Consultant
It started with a screening interview with HR, then a case study with an associate, followed by a writing assignment. The final stage involved three case studies. I didn't get to the culture fit interview. The cases themselves were straightforward, but they really focused on how clearly you worded your answers.
- Can you explain what a regression is to someone who doesn't have a technical background?
Senior Recruiter
The interview started off okay. The first phone screen with the recruiter was fine, covering a mix of behavioral and skills questions. The recruiter was approachable and easy to talk to. At the end of the call, they asked for my availability for the next round, which I sent the same day. I didn't hear back for over a week. After two weeks, the recruiter contacted me again, expressing strong interest in setting up a second interview. I was asked to provide my availability once more, this time with the scheduling coordinator copied on the email. They were tasked with contacting me to arrange the next steps. I sent my availability, and then... silence. I never heard back. I didn't follow up because, as a recruiter myself, I found their poor communication off-putting. The way a company handles its talent acquisition reflects its overall business processes and how it treats its employees. My experience aligns with other reviews mentioning a lack of communication, which seems typical for their TA department, and that's not a good sign.
- What makes you want to work at Keystone?
Consultant
The interview process involved an initial HR interview, followed by one case interview. Then there were three case interviews in a super day. The HR team was professional and warm, making the coordination process generally acceptable despite some delays. Four out of five interviews went smoothly and were conducted warmly. However, the interview coordination and waiting time were long, taking several weeks to schedule. One interviewer was particularly unprofessional, spending too much time on unrelated topics and making arbitrary judgments on aspects not yet addressed. This was inappropriate for a case interview and negatively impacted my experience, giving the impression of bias or favoritism. Keystone Strategy is a good firm with many professional individuals, but it's important to have positive interactions during the interview process.
- Can you discuss some real business cases you've been involved in?
Senior Associate
Had an initial HR interview. Then it was 1 case interview, 3 super day case interviews, and a final Partner interview. After the HR call, they took a month to set up the first case interview because they cancelled a lot. During the super day interviews, one of the interviewers never showed up at all, and didn't say anything. The one who did show up didn't seem interested in me exploring the case options. It was a really frustrating process overall. Some interviewers were good, but others were really unprofessional by being late, not showing up, or constantly interrupting me. I get that they have client stuff to do, but some communication beforehand would have been nice. It was one of the worst interview experiences I've had.
