First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IQ-EQ.
Corporate Administration Officer
My interview with IQ-EQ was ok but could be better. HR was quick and the first parts were booked fine. But, when we talked, I think they could have been more clear about what they wanted and how they'd judge me. Also, the feedback wasn't great, so it was hard to know why things turned out the way they did. All in all, it was fine, but more openness and a better focus on the candidate would make it way better.
- How will you balance your studies with this job?
Front End Software Engineer
It started off with some pre-screener questions from the recruiter. Once those were submitted, it was a video interview. I didn't know what kind of interview it was or who it was with. On interview day, it was with 2 leads where they asked me technical questions/conversational. The questions were on Vue, Javascript/Typescript, and random scenarios. I hadn't heard back for a while until I checked my application a few weeks later to get rejected.
- Can you explain hoisting?
- What's the difference between v-show and v-if/else?
Fund Accountant
I wanted to sincerely thank Jun Meng and the hiring team for taking the time to speak with me on February 25th about the Fund Accountant role. It was a pleasure learning more about Jun Meng's team and the department's contribution to IQ-EQ's success. I appreciate the insights Jun Meng shared and I’m excited about the opportunity to apply my skills in fund accounting, financial reporting, and client services. We also touched on opportunities within Wun Siang’s department in Associate, Regulatory Compliance. I am very open to exploring this path as well, as I’m keen to contribute to IQ-EQ in a way that aligns with my expertise and the company’s needs. IQ-EQ has had a special place in my professional journey since my undergraduate days, having been recognized by Mark Pesco and his team at the TargetJobs UK Undergraduate of the Year Awards in 2018. Helen Baxter had recommended me for a potential internship in Singapore at the time, and I’ve always hoped for the right opportunity to join IQ-EQ.
- Can you elaborate on your familiarity with the concepts of Fund Accounting?
- Could you explain your understanding of the various reporting standards used in Fund Accounting?
Director
The hiring process was pretty well-organized and smooth. After seven interviews with six awesome people, it felt a bit like an audition for a TV show. Then, total silence for two months. Finally, I got the news from the referring employee, not HR, who actually had to ask about it. On the same day, HR emailed saying they hadn't decided yet. I later learned the candidate was already chosen while I was still interviewing. It was a former colleague of my potential boss, who barely even interviewed me, just asking if I'd update them on laws or set up meetings for them to join. Honestly, couldn't we have figured this out sooner? I would have understood.
- Will you keep me updated on new laws?
- Will you set up client meetings for me to attend?
