First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Instawork.
Software Engineer
So there were 4 rounds in total. The first 2 were DSA rounds, then a design round, and finally a director round. The DSA rounds had 2 technical questions each, and the interviewers were helpful. The design round focused on HLD. The director round was the worst, no technical stuff, just a pointless round with an uninterested interviewer. After that, they ghosted and I was told I was rejected in the director round without any reason given, which was a bad experience.
- Two DSA questions were asked in the first two rounds.
- One HLD question was asked in the design round.
Software Engineer Intern
I had a recruiter screen asking about my past experience and why I was interested in Instawork. Then, a hiring manager screen where we went deep into my resume. Finally, a tech screen that involved a LeetCode medium style question, specifically implementing a web crawler recursively.
- Can you tell me about your past experience and why you're interested in Instawork?
- Let's do a deep dive into your resume.

Talking to the team inside or internationally is a waste of time. The HR will stop talking to you after your final interview (The HR will be admitted in hospital the moment you give your last round, she will come back two month later to tell you that they have freezed hiring.lol) They had like 8 pretty intensive rounds, problem being that they are just ghost hiring. They recently had a massive layoff in August and the hiring process right now is just a PR stunt.

Sales Development Manager
The interview process was really long, almost a month, and ended with a rejection. Interviewers were consistently late, including the final round where one was almost 10 minutes behind schedule. If you reach the third stage, be ready for a presentation with minimal guidance, presented as a 'role-play' with a mock SDR team. What I was told to expect wasn't reality; it turned into a tough questioning session instead of an interactive SDR training role-play. While I have no complaints about the interviewers themselves, it would be better to make the presentation the first round to save everyone time. It's disheartening to get positive feedback from three people only to be disqualified due to unclear presentation guidelines. Your experience isn't considered during the presentation, even with over 4 years of enterprise sales experience, I was told my presentation was for the mid-market. Also, I found out about a 10% layoff at Instawork before my last interview, and wasn't told about it. My initial contact stopped responding, and I was switched to a different person. Knowing about the layoffs, especially so close to their last funding round, would have saved me preparation time, as I wouldn't have applied. This felt like a major red flag. Ultimately, I didn't get the offer, and while Instawork has full discretion, I felt set up to fail. So, a heads-up to future applicants: do your research and consider if Instawork is the right place for you.

- What's your strategy for transitioning an SMB SDR team to an enterprise-focused one?
