First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Instawork.
Software Engineer
So there were 4 rounds in total. The first 2 were DSA rounds, then a design round, and finally a director round. The DSA rounds had 2 technical questions each, and the interviewers were helpful. The design round focused on HLD. The director round was the worst, no technical stuff, just a pointless round with an uninterested interviewer. After that, they ghosted and I was told I was rejected in the director round without any reason given, which was a bad experience.
- Two DSA questions were asked in the first two rounds.
- One HLD question was asked in the design round.
Software Engineer Intern
I had a recruiter screen asking about my past experience and why I was interested in Instawork. Then, a hiring manager screen where we went deep into my resume. Finally, a tech screen that involved a LeetCode medium style question, specifically implementing a web crawler recursively.
- Can you tell me about your past experience and why you're interested in Instawork?
- Let's do a deep dive into your resume.
- Implement a web crawler recursively.
Software Engineer
We discussed system design, focusing on keeping things simple and calm. Having a good grasp of data structures and algorithms is super helpful for building good solutions and handling design problems. Just stay relaxed and confident.
- Could you design an elevator system for a tall building, thinking about things like busy times, different floors, and making sure elevators handle requests well to cut down wait times and boost how many people can use them?
