I really hope they know what they are doing, hope they know their criteria...... If you see a job opens for more than a year, run mate! They interview you just want to fail you with unreasonable feedbacks, thats it (I went through the internal hiring process so i got feedback on failed reasons compared to external interviewers who would just get something like "sorry you are not selected".... and it's totally nonsense, since im an internal interviewer, i would suggest recording all interview sessions in the future and send it out to other hiring members with the feedbacks in the compnay and see what they gonna say.....) Hint: if you got interviewed by someone called Siva, good luck mate, this dude is rude and weird.

I had 5 interviews, starting with a recruiter, then the hiring manager, a technical interview, a peer of the hiring manager, and finally a director. It was a pretty straightforward interview process, and everyone I met was nice and professional. The technical interview was very relevant to the position, and the questions weren't overly difficult.

The interview was online via Teams and started really late, like 20 mins after it was scheduled. It felt all over the place, with random, basic questions. They talked about std::move and new C++ features, but when I tried to explain std::move, they just said it was casting and basically wouldn't listen to anything I said after that. The coding part was also confusing because the question wasn't clear, and they seemed in a rush to finish. It was wild because at one point, he muted himself and talked to his friends. This whole experience was really disorganized, unprofessional, and just frustrating.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Can you explain what std::move does and why we would use it?
  • What are some new features in C++11, C++14, and C++17?
  • Write code for a class that adds items to a container.

Behavioral Technical Coding

So, the first interview with the team lead went pretty well, it was about an hour long, and we talked about the job, my past experiences, and the company's tech stuff. I thought the tech and the leadership seemed good. Then came the second interview, and that's when things got weird. The interviewer had only been there for like 1.5 years. Someone else was supposed to join but didn't show up. I was told about 40 mins into the interview that the other person wasn't coming, no explanation or anything. The questions they asked were totally random and didn't really match the job description or what a cloud company needs. Like, they asked if I'd ever coded in assembly or worked in a physical data center, which made no sense for this role. The interview also ran super late, like 50 minutes over, and they didn't seem to care that I had to leave for work stuff, even though I'd told them earlier. In the end, after waiting over 10 days, they said they picked someone else. I asked for feedback, but never got any. The first interview made me feel good about the team lead and the job, but the second one made me think twice about their whole hiring process. The lack of prep, weird questions, and messing with my time were big red flags. No feedback was the last straw, it just felt unprofessional and not courteous. I'm not trying to bash anyone, 'cause I know not everyone is good at interviewing, but a company like Imperva should really look into making their interview process better if they want to grow properly.

  • Can you tell me about the boot process?
  • Could you describe any experience you have with assembly coding?
  • What's your experience working in a physical data center?
