After the initial screening, I had to do a 2-hour unpaid exercise before the official 2nd round. There were long lags between rounds. The interviewers seemed friendly, but the email candidate experience felt impersonal and off-putting. I couldn't really grasp the internal culture, so maybe it was a bad match for both of us.

Started with an online application and got an automated email with the interview schedule. First up was an HR screening, a 30-min phone call about my background, why I'm interested, and if I'd fit in. Then, a 60-min technical interview with two team members. This involved presenting a case study and answering competency questions. They kept me updated after each stage, and the timeline was clear. Unfortunately, after the technical round, I got a quick message saying I didn't make it, without any specific reasons why. The whole process felt organized and professional, but it would have been helpful to get more detailed feedback to learn from.

The hiring process was quite slow, but the work culture seemed good. I applied in Feb 2023, and it took until mid-March for them to get back to me to start the interviews. First, I had a test tailored for the role, which I got back about a week later. Then came the first round, a tech case study involving feature prioritization, use cases, and product design for 'Data on Demand,' along with some behavioral questions. They took another week to respond and another week to schedule the next interview, making it two weeks in total. After that, I had a rigorous culture fit round with questions about my past experiences and how I handled various scenarios. This was followed by another week of waiting and another week to schedule the next round. The next stage was a case study, which felt quite informal; I met internal team members and talked about myself. A week after that, they initiated a reference check, sending g-form emails to three references. Then came a two-week period of suspense, where they said decision-making was taking time, possibly due to other candidates. Finally, a week later, I received a rejection. It's worth noting that after this whole process, which took four months from application, I was rejected because they gave the offer to someone else. This suggests they conduct multiple reference checks before making a final decision.

The interview itself was a case study about an M&E project in Cambodia. The interviewer rescheduled last minute, then was late, and it sounded like they were in a noisy cafe. They also seemed rushed to wrap up and didn't let me ask questions. When I didn't get the job, I asked for feedback, but they just ignored my email. Seemed professional but didn't even meet basic standards for respecting candidate time or dignity.
