First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Icing by Claire's.
Sales Associate
I applied in the store back in December 2014. They didn't get back to me until April 2015 for a one-on-one with the first hiring manager, which covered all the basic interview questions. A couple of weeks after that, I had another interview with the second hiring manager where we discussed their guidelines and scheduled a call with the district manager. By mid-May, I had my phone interview with the district manager. This was my third interview with the company, and I was ready with all my questions. It was a short 15-minute call, and she mentioned I'd hear back in a few weeks, but after three interviews, I never did.
- Are you comfortable with loss prevention?
- How do your clothes represent you at work and outside of work?
Key Holder
The interview was right straight to the point. They asked about my availability, why I want to work there, and why they should hire me. It's best to do your background research about the company before the interview. The interview was good. I had to go through two interviews. The first one was with all the managers from Claires and icing. The second one was with the asm from icing. Typical interview questions.
- Do you have availability?
- What makes you want to work for this company?
- What makes you a good candidate for this position?
Key Holder
A few days after I submitted my application, the store manager gave me a call. I came in for an interview a few days later, talking with both the store manager and assistant manager. It was pretty relaxed, mostly because they are both really nice ladies. They asked me to take a questionnaire online at home. After I finished, I was supposed to call the store back to let them know. They called to check my questionnaire score. Right after they saw I passed, they called and offered me the job.
- Can you share an instance where you went above and beyond to assist a customer?
Shop Assistant
I thought the interview went well at first. They asked about upcoming vacation, and I was upfront about having a month and a half booked. The manager said it was fine. I got the job right away and started working part-time. After a few months, I brought up my vacation again, but my manager acted like I never mentioned it. She said I wouldn't be able to return after the vacation and would have to quit or be fired. It was so unprofessional, and I had to quit.
- How would you handle a situation where you suspected a customer was shoplifting?
