First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Icing by Claire's.
Assistant Manager
I sent in my resume on the web and they got in touch with me the very same day to schedule an interview. The woman who saw me was super nice and the interview was about 30 minutes long. There are a good amount of scenario-based questions. If you do well in the in person interview, they then set you up with an interview over the phone with the district manager.
- What's your approach to resolving a customer complaint?
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations for a customer?
- How would you foster team building and what steps would you take to implement it?
Manager
I met with the District Manager for both Claires and Icing stores in the Ohio area. The interview was pretty straightforward. I had to bring up information about the company myself, as no questions were asked about it. More questions were asked about how my age would affect my ability to stay up-to-date with the company's market.
- Given that this company targets college-aged or recently graduated individuals seeking a trendy yet professional style, how do you perceive your age influencing your capacity to connect with this demographic?
Assistant Manager
The hiring process involves normal interviewing questions, so be ready to answer things like why you want to work here and what you know about fashion and customer service. Make sure you research the company beforehand and are up-to-date on the latest fashion trends. Dress appropriately for the role, but don't overdo it. Also, ask about how long the hiring process usually takes. It takes 4 interviews for the 3rd key position, and the pay is only $8.50/hr, so seriously consider if it's worth it.
- Tell me about a time you managed people.
