I applied in the store and talked to the manager directly. She set up an interview for me a few days later. It was supposed to be a group interview, but I was the only one who showed up. She had a standard question sheet (work experience, why Icing, how would you handle situations..etc.), but she also made up her own questions that were specifically designed to be more challenging. For example, 'what does trustworthy mean to you?' and 'What are two strengths and two weaknesses?'.

I applied in the store back in December 2014. They didn't get back to me until April 2015 for a one-on-one with the first hiring manager, which covered all the basic interview questions. A couple of weeks after that, I had another interview with the second hiring manager where we discussed their guidelines and scheduled a call with the district manager. By mid-May, I had my phone interview with the district manager. This was my third interview with the company, and I was ready with all my questions. It was a short 15-minute call, and she mentioned I'd hear back in a few weeks, but after three interviews, I never did.

I called the day before to see if they were hiring and the manager said they were always accepting applications. So I went in the next day, said I called, and asked for an application. After filling it out and returning it, the manager asked about my availability for an interview. I said whatever works best. A few days later, I had the interview, which was pretty relaxed. He asked basic retail questions. He mentioned he'd contact the district manager and call me back. While I was still in the area, he called and asked if I could do a second interview with the manager at Claire's. I agreed, and it went really well. He called 5 minutes later to say I was hired.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • What is the significance of dressing well?
  • Why is maintaining a good attitude important?
