It all started when a recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. We had a call within a few days, and they set up an interview with their staff a few days after that. Then, a third interview happened just a few days later. Everything seemed to go well, and they sped up a reference check which also went fine. I was expecting a decision by Friday, but come the end of the day, nothing. I followed up on Monday and got an email saying they were 'figuring out a few logistics pieces'. Then things got wild. The recruiter told me the salary range she'd mentioned initially was off the table, with the new range being about $40,000 less. I told her that while salary is important, the role's scope, growth opportunities, mentorship, and work-life balance also matter, and asked if they could still send an offer. A few days later, they said no, they'd found someone else they preferred. It was pretty frustrating after putting in over 5 hours into the process. I suspect they might be posting fake job openings. They also completely failed to communicate timelines, concerns, or salaries clearly. It's possible they're just not giving candidates straightforward feedback. Either way, it doesn't look good. If this is how they recruit, I can't imagine how sketchy it would be to actually work there. It's also worth noting they've had legal issues in multiple states related to their business practices.

So for the accountant job at HORNE LLP, first you'll talk to a recruiter over the phone, they just want to see if you're qualified basically. If that goes well, you'll have a first interview, could be video or in person, with someone from the accounting team. They'll ask more about your background and skills, maybe some behavioral stuff too. Then, if they like you, a second interview with a senior person, like a manager, who will really grill you on your technical accounting knowledge, maybe give you some problems to solve. After that, there's a final interview, possibly with several senior folks, to make sure you fit in with the team and the company vibe. If all that's good, they'll make you an offer, and then there's the usual background check before you start.

I applied at the end of March. It started with a phone call interview from a recruiter. I then interviewed via Zoom with someone from the Puerto Rican office, took a skill assessment some time later, and had a final interview with the actual hiring manager via zoom. The hiring manager told me I should hear something back from the recruiter soon. After a week, I asked the recruiter if there was anything else needed, they said they were waiting on the hiring manager. I asked her again a week and a half later, and she said again that she was waiting on the hiring manager. I was not going to ask her a 3rd time and she did not speak to me again. I found out yesterday the position has been closed with no notification to me- I found out by checking on the status of my application online.
