First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HORNE LLP.
Accountant
So for the accountant job at HORNE LLP, first you'll talk to a recruiter over the phone, they just want to see if you're qualified basically. If that goes well, you'll have a first interview, could be video or in person, with someone from the accounting team. They'll ask more about your background and skills, maybe some behavioral stuff too. Then, if they like you, a second interview with a senior person, like a manager, who will really grill you on your technical accounting knowledge, maybe give you some problems to solve. After that, there's a final interview, possibly with several senior folks, to make sure you fit in with the team and the company vibe. If all that's good, they'll make you an offer, and then there's the usual background check before you start.
- Can you describe a challenging project you handled, including your approach and the results?
- How do you interpret the new revenue recognition standard, and what impact do you foresee it having on our clients?
- What would be your process for addressing a complex tax problem you haven't encountered before?
Accountant
The interview process involved several typical questions for a lengthy interview. It was conducted over Zoom with a two-person panel. They seemed to be reading from a standard list of questions, which felt a bit impersonal, but the interviewers themselves were nice people.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error and describe what you learned from it?
Accounts Payable
I was interviewed for a team lead role. Unfortunately, I was offered a position that was one step below the 'senior accounts payable tech' title, which was disappointing. I've seen similar situations reported online. The interview itself was straightforward and conducted via Zoom.
- Be ready for your standard interview questions.
- Always have a list of your weaknesses prepared.
