Behavioral Technical

This was one of the most unpleasant interview experiences of my professional career. From the outset, the interviewer was condescending in both tone and body language. The facial expressions alone made it clear that my responses were being dismissed before I could even finish speaking. The questioning style felt less like an assessment and more like an exercise in humiliation — deliberately pressurizing and designed to make the candidate feel small. I can understand that a communications role may involve stress-testing or pressure interviews to gauge how a candidate handles difficult situations. That is a legitimate technique. However, the bare minimum professional courtesy is to explain that this is part of the process, either beforehand or at the end of the interview. Neither happened. There was no debrief, no acknowledgment, and no closure — just an abrupt and cold ending that left a deeply negative impression. I will not be applying to this organization again, and I would strongly caution others to think carefully before doing so. Behind the polished public-facing image, the organizational culture appears to reflect something far less admirable. For an institution that profits handsomely from its core commercial operations while leaning heavily on charitable branding for public goodwill — and tax efficiency — one might expect a higher standard of human decency, at least in how it treats candidates at the door.

The interview process spanned about three months and consisted of three main stages. You'll get an initial email from HR with the interview schedule, including who you'll be meeting with. The first interview typically involves a few team leads and an HR manager. The second round is with stakeholders and the department head, and the final interview is with the director of the department. It's a pretty friendly interview setting. Expect a lot of situational questions, especially in the second interview with stakeholders, focusing on how you can contribute to their team. You'll need to know the job description well and have solid experience to share about handling different challenges.
