First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Henry Ford Health.
Physical Therapist Assistant
I got an email asking for an interview. I responded via email explaining my experience and concerns, and they were still interested. When I arrived, another therapist joined the interview. They asked basic questions about my role as a physical therapist assistant. They advised me to answer as if I wasn't speaking to another therapist or assistant. However, they mentioned that the expected hours were holidays and 1-3 weekends a month, which differed from the job post.

Information Security Architect
So I started with a recruiter call about the Enterprise Information Security Architect job on the Incident Response team. We talked about my background, skills, and experience with security architecture, governance, and making security strategy fit the company goals. A week later, I had a first interview with the hiring manager. This felt more like a security architect role, discussing my architecture approach, using frameworks like SABSA and NIST CSF, and how I'd build scalable, business-aligned security architectures for risk management and strategic planning. Then, I was supposed to have a second interview with the manager and some team members, but it ended up being all about incident response investigations and forensics processes. They asked how I'd handle analysis, containment, and investigation of security incidents. There wasn't much talk about enterprise architecture, security frameworks, or linking business objectives to security. Honestly, it felt like they were looking for a forensics analyst or incident responder, or maybe they weren't quite ready to interview for a real security architect position. The team was professional and knew their stuff, but the second interview didn't seem to match the job description.
- Can you describe your experience integrating log data with Microsoft Sentinel?
ER Technician Paramedic
I had a screening call with the recruiter where we just talked about the job and they asked some questions. Then, I interviewed with the nurse manager, which was pretty relaxed. There was a quiz where I had to pick out the abnormal vital signs. The questions were pretty standard. They offered me $19.80 an hour, but I asked them to confirm because I have 7 years of experience. They said an algorithm determines their offers and they can't negotiate, so I declined.
- What would you do if you were asked to do something you didn't feel confident doing?
- Tell me about a time when things were going wrong. What was your response?
Program Coordinator
The interview process was quick and simple. The recruiter and program management were fast with communication and were happy to answer any questions. 2 phone screens with recruiter and then hiring manager, before being invited for an in-person interview. I was offered the job, but turned it down due to a lowball salary offer. During the interview process both the recruiter and hiring manager shared the salary range and both separately stated that I would fall within the mid to high range of the scale. Once the offer came, they offered me the literal lowest number on the scale--citing that though I had over 5 years of direct experience, I did not have the most experience within the pool of available applicants they had interviewed. When I pushed back that I was not entry-level and should at least be higher than the absolute bottom of the range, the recruiter told me that there was no room for negotiation. The hiring manager stated that they also would not be willing to negotiate. It left a sour taste in my mouth and I decided to walk away. I am glad I did because I accepted a salaried position a few weeks later at another hospital that offered me 10K more, front loaded me PTO, was salaried, and had a lighter workload!
- How would you handle challenging interactions with staff or faculty members?
