First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Heidelberg Materials.
Accountant
It's a 4-round interview process. The first round is a phone call. The second is with the hiring manager. The third is with your direct manager. The fourth round is with another manager in the department, and it's for technical questions.
- Can you self-assess your Excel skills on a scale of beginner, intermediate, or expert?
- What motivates you to want to work for this specific company?
- What are your career aspirations?
HRIS Analyst
The interview process was super smooth and really well-organized. It started with an email to set up a phone call with the Talent Acquisition partner. They called right on time and asked some high-level questions just to make sure I had the right qualifications for the job. Then, I had a video interview with two of the leaders from the team. They asked some really good, relevant questions and gave me a good feel for the role and the company culture. After that, they invited me onsite to meet everyone I'd be working with. Honestly, this was the best part! It really showed me they value teamwork and genuinely wanted to make sure the new person would be a good fit, both in skills and personality. About 4–5 days after the onsite interviews, I got an offer. I took it right away because I was totally sure it was the right team and company for me.
- Can you tell me about your background and qualifications for this role?
- What's your experience with HRIS systems and analytics?
- Can you give an example of a time you worked effectively in a team?
Shipping Manager
Since the company is pretty flat, the first interview is usually with HR to go over your background. After that, you'll usually meet with the direct manager. Because we often hire for junior roles, we're more focused on your communication, behavior, and thinking skills rather than deep industry knowledge.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What motivates you?
- Tell me about your experience.
Laboratory Manager
The hiring process started with a job application where they tested my skills with criteria-matching and technical questions. Then, there was a technical interview with the state technical manager, focusing on testing and sampling. After that, I had a behavioral interview with the manager, which included scenario simulation questions that were quite challenging. Finally, there was a panel interview and a final interview before the offer.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe how you would manage a remote employee who is underperforming.
- Is frequent travel within NSW feasible for this role?
