The interview was fair. They asked me about my past experiences as a software engineer, which technologies I've used and the reasoning behind them. They also asked about challenges and struggles I've had in my career, and then technical questions about the technology they use, expecting me to have prior knowledge.

The hiring process was really fast. The recruiter was knowledgeable, thorough, and answered all my questions. I was a bit uneasy when they asked for my W2, but they said it was optional, so I trusted them. The second interview went well, the interviewer was a true professional, and we both thought it was amazing. I was excited to join the company, but I never got an offer. I followed up with the recruiter, who mentioned it was still in approvals. Since I couldn't wait any longer without income, I accepted a job elsewhere.

Got approached by the Creative Director who liked my portfolio. Did a design challenge which went great, and then had interviews with engineering and data analytics which were also awesome. The final step was writing an 'arc of accomplishments' (AOA) letter, which is required for all candidates, detailing their life achievements. Seeing examples of top management's AOAs was a major red flag. Despite their talent, their writing had a boastful tone that was off-putting. The CEO is known to be dismissive during AOA presentations, critical of personal life choices that come up, and in my experience, initiated a political debate about the merits of right-wing xenophobic politics. I'm relieved I didn't get the offer, as I wouldn't want to work for such a CEO, regardless of his business success.

  • Please explain the reason for the career gap.

The interview process spanned a week. After applying online, I received a response within 2-3 days for a phone screening with Karrin, the talent coordinator, who was very helpful. We discussed my skills, my interest in the company, and I had the opportunity to ask questions. She then provided more details about the role and asked me to complete an online application that included interview-style questions. Following the application, I was invited for an on-site interview. This involved a brief 15-minute 2-on-1 discussion about my background and suitability for the position. Next, I participated in a 30-minute job shadow, which offered a practical view of a client coordinator's daily tasks. Subsequently, I was asked to return for a 20-minute presentation of my achievements to the executives. This was a bit nerve-wracking, but it was a good chance for them to learn more about me and my proudest accomplishments. It's important to clearly communicate your capabilities to show you can do the job and be prepared for follow-up questions. I received the job offer the same day as my presentation. The company environment felt very welcoming overall.
