I presented a "brag sheet" and then was asked to leave the room while six interviewers discussed me. There wasn't a waiting area, so I waited in the kitchen. I then presented a case study about my strategy for the first 90 days, and again, was asked to leave while they discussed. I wasn't given a schedule, but I ended up joining the company's daily standup, where about 150 employees went around thanking each other. After that, we had a push-up and plank competition. I went back to the interview room, and another person came in, asking if he was supposed to be next. Due to the lack of a schedule, there was some confusion, but he eventually told me he was distracted because it was workout time and he'd normally be lifting. Then, the CEO came in and stated he already felt I was "too junior" and "overpaid." He asked about my current salary and my previous salary from two years prior, suggesting that would be my appropriate pay range. This salary discussion was based solely on my 30-minute presentation, making the subsequent five 1:1 meetings seem pointless. I asked about who my manager would be, who I'd work with most, and how I'd be held accountable. No one had answers, and I was told that as a manager, figuring that out would be my job. They mentioned that being a startup, I should expect that level of ambiguity. I never heard from them again after the interview.

The first interview was a casual phone call. Then I had to shadow someone for 15 minutes, and they said to wear gym clothes because there's no dress code. For the final interview, I needed to wear business casual and give a presentation on my life's successes. After that, they asked some really weird questions, and one interviewer was condescending when I asked her to repeat herself. I tried to ignore it, but the recruiter was unresponsive afterward. Weeks later, I got a generic email saying I didn't get the job. The whole process was just strange and disheartening. They should be more professional.

It was an easy interview. A recruiter reached out to me, and then I got an invite a week later for a second and final interview. The interview was with 3 people over zoom. They were all chill and friendly. I normally get anxious before interviews but I was fine.
