First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Harvey & Company LLC.
Analyst
First, I had a chat with the recruiter. Then, I went through an in-person and a panel interview. The interviews were mostly qualitative, covering topics like multiple arbitrage, private equity return metrics, and previous buyside sales experience. They stressed the importance of work ethic, and everyone I spoke with mentioned it.
- Can you describe an M&A thesis within an industry that you found particularly interesting and explain your reasoning?
Research Analyst
The process was great. The staff were very personable, and most of the questions were behavioral, which usually turned into pleasant conversations. Overall, it was a great experience that made the candidate feel comfortable from the beginning. The HR and deal team members were experienced and knew how to evaluate candidates from the start. There were no technical interviews.
- Can you tell me about your past experience that is listed on your resume?
Research Intern
I met with an analyst and an associate from the team I was interviewing for. It was a virtual interview where they asked me some behavioral questions, like to tell them about myself. They also asked specific questions about my resume experiences that they thought would be relevant for the research intern role at the firm.
- Could you go over your resume with me?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you discuss specific experiences from your resume that are relevant to this research intern position?
Research
So basically there's an analyst who calls you and basically asks about your experience, your college major and extracurriculars, and just decides if you're a good fit for an interview. The interview is at Harvey & Co. The first person I talked to on the phone was a super chill, conversational guy. He let me know what the next two people would ask me. The second person came in and asked standard questions like, 'What are you most proud of?', 'What experience do you have?', and 'What do we do here?'. The third person then came in with another intern and asked me all resume-related questions. He was the hardest, but still pretty normal questions. Make sure you know your resume really well and have an idea of what they do.
- What do we do here?
- What are you most proud of?
- Why did you apply for this role?
