First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hapag-Lloyd.
HR Support Specialist
The interview was super relaxed, and I felt totally at ease with the recruiter. We immediately started chatting casually. I was asked to go over my resume, talk about why I was interested in this role, and explain why I left my last job. I left the interview feeling really good because she laid out what would happen next and even told me who I'd be meeting in the future interviews. Sadly, though, I didn't get moved on to the next part of the hiring process.
- Can you tell me about your understanding of Employment Law?
Software Engineer
Application and resume screening, followed by an HR/Recruiter screening. Then, technical interviews for developers involve coding challenges, algorithm questions, and Java/Spring/Kafka stuff. For Cloud or DevOps, it's questions about GCP, AWS, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, etc. If you're an Analyst or Tester, they'll focus on test cases, SQL, data handling, or specific domain questions.
- Could you explain how you would manage transactions within Spring Boot, specifically using the @Transactional annotation, and also detail how you'd handle potential rollback situations?
Coordinator
Attended a walk-in interview for a fresher Coordinator role. Cleared all rounds including the Manager round and was told I was selected by HR. However, after 2-3 days of no response, HR stated BCS and BSC graduates were ineligible, putting my profile on hold, which contradicts the job posting's eligibility criteria.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you describe your past work experience?
- What do you consider your main strengths and weaknesses?
Service Delivery Team Lead
So I applied for this job at Hapag Lloyd in İzmir, Turkey. First, I got a call from HR, and we chatted. She mentioned my management experience wasn't quite there for the role, which I understood. About 1.5 months later, HR called again because they were being more flexible with the job requirements and wanted to interview me further. I gladly accepted. I then had a good online interview with the HR manager, followed by an online personality test. The next step involved meeting with the Global Customer Care managers. They invited me to the HQ during workdays, so I took time off from my job to go. The two people interviewing me from the GCC team were quite tough. Even though they knew my background, they really zeroed in on my weaknesses. I felt like my strengths or my honesty didn't sway them, which is fine. But then, I was totally ghosted by Hapag-Lloyd. No emails, no texts. Neither HR person I spoke to responded to my calls or messages. I can handle rejection, but ghosting was unexpected from them. It's been two months, and my application status on their career site hasn't changed.
- Could you share your experiences in management?
- How would you go about having your team utilize Python?
