& Process

The interview was pretty good, entirely in English with questions related to the position, and clear information was provided during the call. However, I haven't received any feedback for two weeks, and even though I sent an email, they decided to ignore it. I think this is bad practice because even if we don't proceed with the process, a follow-up email can be sent to ensure communication with the candidate.

It was a very long and thorough interview process that spanned one and a half months and involved three rounds of interviews, but it ended in a really strange and undignified manner. The timeline was like this: I got the first interview invitation on 20230728. The first technical interview with the manager and director was on 20230802, scheduled for an hour but ran for one and a half hours, and it went well. On 20230814, the second round with HR was actually an assessment that included logic, verbal, and numerical reasoning, a motivation test, and a personality test. It was quite challenging and had to be completed within five days, which I did well. The third round interview on 20230829 was with the same manager and the chief engineer; again, it was scheduled for an hour but lasted one and a half hours and went well. On 20230908, I inquired about the progress and was told the manager had requested the work permission from the Grundfos mobility department and was awaiting their reply. I was very optimistic because work permits are standard, especially for a big company like Grundfos. Then, on 20230914, the manager informed me the result was rejected, stating that my profile was suitable, but the work permit situation wasn't ideal as it would take time to get a new one for Grundfos and more time for my permanent status. They also mentioned I was still a good candidate and if my permanent residency situation changed, I should contact them. This shocked me because I know SIRI's work permit policies well; I can start working immediately upon contract signing and submitting the application, with no waiting period and no link to permanent residence. I suspected a misunderstanding of my situation, perhaps thinking I hadn't legally entered Denmark, but I've lived and worked here for nearly five years. I replied with a detailed explanation of SIRI's policy, but received no response. A week later, I emailed again for feedback or a final decision, still no reply. Now, three weeks have passed with no response. It's surprising that regular matters like work permits aren't handled by HR but by a mobility department that seems to misunderstand the policy, and they don't even respond when I try to clarify. Despite Grundfos culture emphasizing 'trustworthy' and 'respect', this process felt the opposite. They couldn't even end the process gracefully, which was surprising. I'm unsure if it's the contact's style or company culture, but they don't seem to grasp that job seekers value their time. It appears to be an accidental misunderstanding of the work permit policy that couldn't be clarified.

They had this first video-recorded interview that was a bit strict, only two tries and two minutes long, with basic HR questions. Then there was a panel interview. The hiring manager seemed to be looking for someone who could do everything at once, like a unicorn, but the conversation was nice. They said they'd get back to me in a week, but it took over three weeks, and they wanted another interview. By then, I had another offer. My friend had a similar experience with Grundfos's disorganized hiring process; they got ghosted after their interview and didn't even get a rejection.

It was a really smooth and fair process, very professional. Everyone I spoke with, from the hiring manager to HR and the team, was super friendly and positive. The whole thing had three parts: first, a quick screen call. Then, an online chat with the hiring manager and someone from the team where we talked about my background, education, and experience. Finally, another online meeting with the hiring manager and the head of a different department. This last one involved some technical and behavioral questions, and I also had to prepare and present a PowerPoint on my past projects. Honestly, it was one of the best interview experiences I've had.
