Geotab Interview Questions
& Process

The interview process had 2 parts. First, a 20-30 min HR chat, mostly behavioral questions like handling multiple deadlines. Then, a technical round with the hiring manager. They started with resume review and some easy behavioral questions. After that, there was a quick theory round covering databases, networking, multithreading, OOP design patterns, SOLID, and dependency injection. Finally, a coding round where I had to implement classes for a specific calculation, which wasn't too difficult. The whole thing took about 2 weeks.

So the whole thing was 3 rounds. First up was a quick chat with a recruiter about my background, why I'm interested, and just general fit. Then I had a live coding session in CoderPad with a senior analyst, where I had to do 5 SQL problems. They were about joins, aggregations, window functions, and figuring out overlapping intervals, all in MySQL. The last round was a 45-minute behavioral chat with two senior data analysts. We really dug into my past projects, covering stuff like pipeline architecture, why I designed dashboards a certain way, how I picked metrics, making sure things were fault-tolerant, and how I'd optimize SQL queries (like looking at query plans, using CTEs versus subqueries, partitioning, and slot contention). They left the last 15 minutes for my questions. I heard back about their decision pretty quickly, within a few days after the final interview.

The Geotab Solutions Delivery Internship interview process started with a quick 15-30 minute screening call with someone from the campus talent team. They first told me about the whole process, then I introduced myself, talking about my studies, past jobs, and what I'm interested in. After that, they asked me some questions about how I handle projects, deal with team problems, what tools I know how to use, my career plans, and if I know anything about Geotab. They also did some HR stuff like checking if I can legally work, getting my OK for a background check, asking about when I can start, what I expect to be paid, and if I'm okay with the work location. I got to ask my own questions at the end, and they said they'd let me know within a week if I'm moving on to the next in-office interview or if I got the job.

The interview process was marked by significant communication issues. The recruiter was unresponsive for days at a time, which was concerning for an operations role. The final interview was rescheduled less than 15 hours before it was supposed to happen, without consulting me, and then moved again after I pointed out the new time didn't work. After the final round with two Associate Vice Presidents and the hiring manager, there was complete silence for over a week, despite multiple follow-ups. I eventually received an automated rejection 13 days after the final interview, on a Sunday evening. This experience felt misaligned with the company's scale and reputation, as the interviewers themselves were great, but the recruiting process was unprofessional. This negative experience with the process has made me reconsider future employment with the company.
