First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GE Appliances.
Commodity Buyer
The interview process was really organized, with clear instructions and a schedule for the onsite interview. Make sure to give yourself extra time to check in at the welcome center. I spoke with 3 people: a manager, an engineer, and an HR representative. They asked a lot of great questions, mostly behavioral, and asked for examples from my work history. Each part of the interview had enough time for me to ask my own questions and get a good feel for the job and the team.
- What motivated you to apply to GE and what specifically about this role interested you?
Commodity Buyer
First, there was a phone interview with HR, then a video call with the hiring manager. After that, I had an on-site interview which consisted of four 1:1 panel sessions with the hiring manager, product management, Program Manager, and HR. The whole process spanned about 5-6 weeks, potentially a bit less if there weren't holidays. I got the offer three days after my interview, but it can sometimes take longer depending on the interview cycles.
- Can you describe your experience with developing sourcing strategies and how you implement them?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was great! It started with a recruiter call, followed by an HR round, then a meeting with the direct reporting manager. After that, there were two technical rounds, and finally, a round with the executive director. Each session lasted about 30 minutes, and it was all done online. If you get through these, you'll move on to the background check and drug test.

- Tell me about the challenges you have faced.
Training Manager
I talked to the recruiter first, then the hiring manager. I mentioned my salary expectations were higher than their range, but they said they could make it work. They flew me out for an on-site interview with only one day's notice. There were four interviews and a tour. They said they'd decide within a week. Then, they asked me to create a presentation with only two days' notice. I told them I wouldn't do it unless they could guarantee they'd meet my salary range, which they said they couldn't. I had stated my range from the very beginning. The facility was interesting and the people were nice, but I felt the whole process was a waste of time for everyone.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
