Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GE Appliances.
Mechanical Engineer
The interview process was really straightforward. It mostly involved behavioral questions. It seems like if you get an interview, your skills are good enough, but they will really probe into the details on your resume. They're trying to figure out if you're interested in growing your skills and if you're professional and mature.
- Tell me about a time you came up with an unconventional solution.
- Can you share an instance where you didn't achieve a goal, and what actions did you take or what did you learn from it?
Mechanical Engineer
It was a 5 STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Response) based pre-set questioning interview process. I've experienced a similar process at other medium-large companies, it's actually used by P&G and GE Aerospace. I wasn't sure I would get the offer since I hadn't prepared for two of the five questions they asked.
- Can you share an instance where you assumed a leadership role and guided a team?
Mechanical Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview process for a large company. They asked me questions about my behavior and personality in a work environment.
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with an uncooperative team and how you worked to resolve it.
