First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GE Appliances.
Electrical Engineer
This was a behavioral interview to check teamwork and values. They asked about collaboration, problem-solving, and adapting in a team, focusing on communication and shared goals.
- Can you share an instance where you were part of a team and encountered a problem that needed fixing? What steps did you take to resolve it?
Electrical Engineer
I got an interview offer from the career fair and they set up an on-campus interview for the next day. Before that, I had to apply online at home so they could get my profile into their system. I heard from another recruiter the same day as my interview, but after it. They offered me a placement the same week. It was just one interview, with a few technical questions about what I know, and then the usual behavioral vibe check, but no situational stuff.
- Can you tell me about your resume and experience, and why you're interested in this position?
- What's the difference between BJTs and MOSFETs, and in what situations would you choose one over the other?
- Could you explain diodes and the scenarios where you would use them?
Electrical Engineer
I got this interview after going to a career fair. It was an initial behavioral interview, and they asked mostly "Tell me about a time when..." questions, with one technical question thrown in at the end. It was conducted online and lasted about 30 minutes.
- Can you share an experience where you demonstrated a specific skill or trait?
- Describe your process for debugging a PCB that isn't functioning correctly after being powered on.
