It was a lengthy interview process, spanning about two months, but the recruiter kept me well-informed throughout. It kicked off with a recruiter chat, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. Then, there were two peer interviews, one of which involved a thought exercise about the Front product. After that, I had to give a presentation simulating a mock kick-off call. Finally, I had a closing conversation with the hiring manager again. I really enjoyed meeting everyone on the team. I got to the final stage, but unfortunately, I didn't get the offer.

The recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and we scheduled a meeting for the first stage. Unfortunately, after that meeting, there was no further progress. I enjoyed chatting and learning about your background, but after internal discussions, we decided it wasn't the best fit for us right now. We appreciated your time and effort. So, first there was this initial phone call with the recruiter, it was about 30 minutes. They mentioned that after that, I'd get an invite for an official online interview with the hiring manager. Following that, there'd be an online demonstration, and then a final interview. The recruiter also mentioned the salary range was 45k-53k, with 70% base and 30% commission, so the max base salary is 37k.

The interview process started with a recruiter call and a hiring manager call, which were pretty standard. Then came a take-home assignment where the task was to build a data layer for a frontend app. The specific instructions were a bit vague, and they really stressed that there wasn't a 'correct' answer. Even after asking for clarification, I was told to just do what I thought was best. I submitted it, but was rejected before the code review stage because they felt I missed an edge case, which I hadn't and could have explained. It felt like they were actually looking for a very specific coding style, typical of smaller companies trying to find people who code a certain way. If you're not a referral, it's probably not worth your time. It wasn't the worst interview ever, but definitely a waste of time.
