First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Front.
Senior Software Engineer
The recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and we scheduled a meeting for the first stage. Unfortunately, after that meeting, there was no further progress. I enjoyed chatting and learning about your background, but after internal discussions, we decided it wasn't the best fit for us right now. We appreciated your time and effort. We're going with other candidates whose backgrounds align more closely with what we're looking for.
- Did you get the Front materials I sent?
- Did you review them?
- Have you heard of our company before?
Senior Software Engineer
It started with a take home coding challenge that was pretty fun and well-thought-out. I thought the problem was challenging and engaging, with a good number of edge cases to figure out. I made some decisions and explained them with comments in my code, which seemed to be okay. After that, I had a casual code review with some engineers. The rest of the process was more standard, with four onsite interviews. I met with the hiring manager, the VP of engineering, and several team members. They seemed to prioritize finding someone who would fit well with the team's personality. The company was good about giving me time to ask my own questions so I could make a good decision. I met some really great people, and I honestly would have taken the offer if I hadn't been more excited about the product I'd be building with another company. I don't know what the background check or offer stages were like, but I assume they happened.
- Could you build a midi player using JavaScript or TypeScript?
Software Engineer
I applied to a role that seemed interesting on Indeed. A recruiter contacted me within two weeks. We had a generally nice chat, but he was really unprepared to answer any of my basic HR questions and seemed extremely nervous about speaking in general. He sent me a link to schedule a follow-up call with the hiring manager, at which point I discovered that Front's senior engineering leadership basically consists of a kid whose resume is 75% internships. I declined to proceed at that point.
- Could you read your resume aloud while I pretend to be interested?
