Coding System Design

It was like, first, there was this online DSA screening, which I thought was a medium Leetcode-level question. After that, I had a system design interview with two engineers from Flipp, where we talked about database design, HTTPS design, and user stories, among other things.

Pros: Three interviews total before getting an offer. Cons: The first two interviews were great and the staff seemed friendly, but the final interview had a really off vibe. The two employees interviewing me seemed cold and unfriendly. I spent over 24 hours over a week building a case study to present, only to be asked behavioral questions after it. It was inappropriate to ask these questions then, as the second interview should have been for that. I was cut based on a behavioral question, which could have been determined earlier, saving me a week of work. Awful business acumen; I'm glad I won't be working there.

Applied for the role and was contacted by the current TA Manager. After a long wait for the initial screening call, I was told I'd progressed to the next step. This involved an interview with a member of the TA team and an HRBP. It went really well and I thought I'd make it to the final round. They said I'd hear back early the next week, but it took almost two weeks. I followed up and was told they wanted to schedule a call to discuss. I asked if they could just email if it was a rejection to save time. They finally emailed late Friday to say they weren't moving forward, without any feedback or reasons. I asked for feedback, but they ghosted me. Super unprofessional and disappointing, especially for a management role.

The interview process had three parts: a phone interview, a video interview, and a take-home assignment followed by another video interview. The initial 30-minute phone call was pretty standard and relaxed, mostly to get a feel for me. They went over the role details and mentioned when I'd hear back. The video interview itself felt pretty long and a bit tough for an entry-level role. Be ready to really dive deep into behavioral questions - that's super important! They said I'd get an email from a team member about moving to the final round, but instead, I got an automated rejection email after a few days, which was a bummer. I tried emailing the HR person who first contacted me, but never got a reply, which was disappointing considering how much time I put into their whole interview process.
