So I walked in and the front desk girl, Maria, she was super nice and we had a great chat while I waited. Then I met with Mr. Bolwala, the President, and he was so passionate about the role and the opportunities to go to different events, plan, coordinate, and develop others there. It was really intriguing! The next day, they took me to an event at the Seattle Mariners Stadium. It was a huge two-week event with games, merchandise, and they were just having a blast representing the client, not even pushing sales. What really got me interested was seeing the entry-level progression and how quickly I could grow and move up without waiting for openings.

I applied on LinkedIn and got a call within 24 hours to set up an interview. I had the interview the next week at their Seattle office. After only five minutes, I could tell this company wasn't legit. They had 'Friends' playing in the waiting room where two other people were also waiting to interview. The interview started 20 minutes late, and the interviewer, who claimed to be the CEO, hadn't read my resume. He asked me random questions about my resume without much interest in my answers. He explained what the company does and its growth plans, but was vague about clients and growth, which felt suspicious. He seemed eager to end the interview quickly and was unprofessional. They offered me a full-day shadow the next day, but I declined after reading reviews. They're still hiring on LinkedIn, even a month after my interview.

I was left with very little information on the specifics of the position I applied for. Instead, I was invited for a second interview to come and shadow and "see for myself." I even had to look up on Glassdoor to find out the pay rate. When I went into the office, there were 2 ladies, in the front/lobby room, inviting people for interviews. It all sounded generic and scripted and this should've been my red flag here. I was bombarded with info about the history, how "fast" they are growing and how they want you to start off as a sales then train you to move up in the company as a manager within 10-12 months. Well I've worked/interviewed with multiple jobs that had the same crap script. Granted you probably would move up that fast but with these companies they like to shove all the great promises in your face upfront, without much of the nitty gritty details of the work, and then draw you in for crap. On a good note, they don't sell door to door. I found it unprofessional to email me today asking for an interview, with only the following Monday as my other option. I managed to get off earlier but then they invited me to a second interview asking if I could come in the next following Monday-Wednesday to shadow someone, for a full work shift. He was nice but this isn't the job for me.

The interview process included a brief initial call, followed by a full-day job shadow. While the company has ambitious goals and potential for good earnings and quick advancement, especially for young individuals comfortable with face-to-face sales roles like those for cable/internet providers or in events at places like Walmart/Best Buy, I personally didn't feel it was the right fit. The company, which represents various Fortune 500/1000 companies under different names in different locations (e.g., Market Storm in Miami), seems to offer a dynamic environment. However, I experienced a lack of respect for my time, with interviewers consistently late and interviews starting significantly behind schedule. There was also a lack of transparency regarding the role and the growth plan, which seemed exaggerated, especially for an entry-level position focused on event-based sales. The second interview involved an unexpectedly long job shadow (nearly 9 hours, ending at 7 PM) without prior notice. My attempt to ask questions during the shadowing was deferred until later in the day, suggesting the focus was on assessing my ability to endure the sales environment rather than engaging in a substantive discussion. This lack of transparency, coupled with potential conflicts of interest in representing competing companies like Comcast and AT&T, made me decide not to proceed. While the office atmosphere seemed friendly, I believe the company could improve its interview process by being more upfront about the entry-level role and respecting interviewees' time, including logistical aspects like transportation for off-site activities.
