The interview was great. The interviewer was very calm and we went step by step with simple questions about my experience and salary expectations. He explained the project and asked if my profile fit. It was a short, pleasant virtual interview.

Behavioral Technical

I had a phone interview at first, and then I was invited for an in-person interview. This happened a couple of years back. The in-person interview was with two people in a tiny room. They asked me questions in a pretty aggressive and intimidating manner. I remember being asked about my studies and to recall sales figures from years prior. Unfortunately, I can't recall more questions because the main feeling I have from this interview is how uncomfortable I felt. I left feeling really intimidated and upset. I didn't get the job, but then one of the interviewers emailed me asking me out for coffee, which I thought was really unprofessional. I wouldn't suggest interviewing at this company.

Coding System Design Technical

This was the worst interview experience I have ever had. First, there was a 2 hour coding assessment with a worksheet on system design and filling in missing code. If that was passed, the next round involved a 6+ hour project sent 24 hours before a 3 hour interview. During the 3 hour interview, they made me code new features into the application live for 2 hours. By the time I was an hour into the live interview, I was no longer interested in working for them. The interviewers were condescending. They didn't ask about my system design, only about its flaws. Even when I said I was still learning, they kept pointing out errors as if it should have been perfect. No compliments were given. Then they discussed company culture, the lack of managers, lack of proper testing and deployment regulations, and pushing code to production in the first week. There also didn't seem to be a clear internal growth path because no manager meant no raises or title changes. Overall, a very bad experience that left a sour taste. Glad I didn’t get the offer.

Technical Behavioral Presentation

The interview process included a standard phone screening as the first phase. Phase two was an in-person technical assessment done by future coworkers, and a soft skill assessment where you had to explain a technical concept like a helpdesk interaction. The final phase was a video call with your future manager. The people were down to earth and authentic, which was refreshing. I really enjoyed the technical assessment; it was realistic and allowed for using Google, just like in a real job. It showed problem-solving skills without making you feel pressured. It's clear Ezoic wants self-managed professionals who can share their ideas.
