First there was a screening interview, then a technical coding interview which wasn't too bad, and then a project. You work on the project for a week and then present the project to a panel, they ask you questions and give you feedback.

Behavioral Technical Coding

It started with a telephonic interview to discuss my experience. Then came a technical interview, which felt more like a software engineering role, not really focused on data science skills. After that, there was a take-home assignment using a Kaggle dataset. The experience with the technical interviewer was pretty bad; he seemed uninterested, drinking beer while I was working, and didn't seem to care about my thought process. I asked multiple times if time complexity was important for my solution, and he just said 'No just solve the problem.' I solved it, but then he said it wasn't good enough, which was confusing since I'd asked for his expectations. It felt like I was expected to read his mind.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • How would you approach the dogs in a park problem?
  • Describe how to move from point 'A' to 'B' on a grid.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So first, we had a phone screen to chat about my background and see if I was a good fit. Then, they sent over a take-home assignment that was pretty massive and took about a week to finish. The assignment involved looking at a dataset, finding some key insights, building models, and then some other tasks too. The final step was presenting my work from the take-home.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The initial phone screen involved a discussion about my background to assess my suitability for the position.
  • The take-home assignment required me to analyze a dataset, derive insights, develop models, and perform additional tasks over a one-week period.
