First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Expand Energy.
Energy Analyst
I had a phone screen where they asked a lot of questions about my background and skills. We also talked a lot about the role itself. I didn't get past this stage. The recruiter was pretty good and always replied quickly.
- Can you tell me about your background and what skills you have?
- What are your key skills?
- Can you elaborate on your background and skillset?
IT Analyst
The interview experience was solid, with good questions, at what was then a growing company. I did not receive an offer, but the team seemed sharp and engaged. I appreciate the opportunity to interview and would consider it an average interview.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Accountant
The University Relations team reached out to me about a week after I applied to set up an interview for later that week. I got about two days' notice, so make sure you're ready to research the company beforehand. They asked some things about my resume, but it was mostly behavioral questions. The interview was on webcam and only lasted 20 minutes. Three people from the accounting department asked the questions, and they were all really encouraging. You should have some questions ready for them too, to show you're serious about the internship. I only had this one interview before they offered me the job.
- What do you dislike most about working at _________?
Software Developer
First, there's a phone screen with a manager and some programmers. They'll grill you on Object Oriented Design, Patterns, and architecture. They'll also ask about the skills you put on your resume, like how they relate to your past or current job. It's about 30-60 minutes. Then, you head to Oklahoma City for the in-person interview, which is 4 hours long. The first half is with 3 managers who hit you with behavioral questions from an HR list. The next 2 hours are with 2 managers and 2 engineers. They'll ask some C# questions, but mostly focus on object oriented design, architecture, and patterns. Topics like mocking, test driven design, and dependency injection will come up. They also want to know about TFS, branching, and how you handle conflict resolution. They're looking for heavy Microsoft Enterprise Development experience, not just basic programming. Finally, you'll code FizzBuzz on a whiteboard.
- How do you deal with conflicts when using TFS?
