First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Eversheds Sutherland.
Intern
It's three rounds. The first is a technical test about your area of interest and a sheet with personal questions (3 of your weaknesses, why Eversheds, what would you contribute to the firm...). The second was a group dynamic, in my case there were quite a few of us (+20). We were divided into two groups, we had to create 5 slogans for a fictional client and then present our ideas. The third round is the interview with the partner of the department, in my case it was quite personal, we talked about my previous experience, why I chose Law, why I'm interested in this area of Law... It's true that the partner asked me 3 somewhat technical questions, but the interview was mostly personal.
- Tell me about your previous experience, why did you choose Law, and why are you interested in this area of Law?
Real Estate Paralegal
The interview process started with a brief technical assessment focused on lease renewals. This was followed by a one-hour interview where we discussed my career path in law and how my existing skills could benefit the team. The interview itself felt relaxed, and the interviewers were quite friendly. Just a heads-up, be ready for some questions you might not anticipate. For example, a question I wasn't expecting, though it was straightforward, was about a time I made an error and how I handled it.
- Can you share an instance of when you collaborated with clients?
- Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you addressed it.
Lead
The interview process was pretty open with good communication throughout. However, a senior manager didn't align with the company's values. I made it to the final stages, and everything was going well in the last interview until the 'any questions' part. When I asked about career opportunities, the response I received was unexpected and unprofessional. It might be worth checking company reviews about poor management and lack of progression. It's a shame because the direct manager was very transparent and seemed surprised by the response.
- Can you describe standard scenario-based questions related to your skillset?
Analyst
So I applied online, then got a referral from someone on LinkedIn which helped speed things up. The whole process was pretty easy. First, there was a 30-minute HR chat, followed by five assessments: one SQL, one intermediate Excel, one advanced Excel, one for attention to detail, and a personality/employability test. After that, I had a 45-minute meeting with the Director, which was pretty relaxed and she actually tried to end it early because the questions were super basic, like 'tell me about yourself.' Then, I met with two people from the pricing and value team for a 45-minute chat; it was basically just meeting the team I'd be working with and was also laid-back. They asked a lot of STAR questions. The last step was a 15-20 minute meeting with the hiring manager who asked a few STAR questions and then had me go through my resume, talking about every single work experience and leadership role I'd listed. This whole thing took about 4-5 weeks because each part was about a week apart. In the end, I got ghosted.
