First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dynetics.
Data Analyst
I had three interviews with three different people in the Configuration Management department, followed by an interview with someone from HR. The interviews were held in a conference room and were recorded. One person couldn't make it to their scheduled interview, and I think they probably reviewed the recording since they were absent.
- Are there any issues for you working with missiles and other weapons?
Aerospace Engineer
I had a quick phone chat, about 30 mins, with an engineer who was at a similar level as me, in the same field. Then, I went in for a longer, in-person interview that took a few hours. I met with different people: someone from HR, a few engineers of different seniorities (some senior folks, and the department head), and also someone who might be my teammate. They didn't really ask direct questions about what I know, but they definitely tried to guide the conversation to see if I really knew my stuff.
- Have you used MATLAB before, and if so, for what applications?
- Can you tell me about your experience with Simulink and its uses?
- What's your experience with C++ and what have you accomplished with it?
Firmware Engineer
It was a multi-person interview process with many behavioral questions. Honestly, it didn't feel very professional, and they are usually quite slow to respond to applicants. There wasn't much feedback or enthusiasm from the interviewers.
- Can you discuss a previous project you were involved in?
Software Engineer
It was a pretty straightforward interview. They asked some questions about Agile and fundamental design concepts, but not a ton of deep technical stuff. It felt like they were more interested in whether I had good soft skills and was keen to learn.
- How do you deal with challenges that come up when building software using Agile?
- What are some fundamental design principles you're familiar with?
- Could you explain your experience working with Agile development practices?
