Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dynetics.
Software Engineer
Applied online and a recruiter reached out about a week later. She set up a phone interview for the next week. The phone interview was pretty standard, I spoke with the hiring manager for the team. They asked me about my background and what I'd done. Then, a couple days later, the recruiter emailed to arrange an on-site interview for the following week. The on-site started with HR talking about benefits and giving a quick tour. After that, I met with three software engineers from the team and two potential supervisors. They mostly asked about my experience and resume, plus a couple of really basic OOP concepts. I didn't have to code anything. I got the official offer two days after the on-site.
- What are the differences between C++ and Java?
- If your co-workers were to describe you, what three adjectives would they use?
- Can you tell me about your resume and experience?
Software Engineer
Dynetics is good at placing you in a department that aligns with your skills and interests. My interviews involved meetings with managers from about six different departments or projects. If you reach this stage, they see you as talented and capable, focusing more on cultural fit. The interviews are generally low-stress and non-technical since they've already filtered out candidates through education, recommendations, and past performance.
- Could you discuss implementation details regarding inheritance and polymorphism across different programming languages?
Software Engineer
I found the job online and then a manager gave me a quick screening. After that, I was invited to come in for an on-site interview day. Before I agreed to schedule it, I asked about the salary range. I ended up emailing and having a phone call about it, but they still couldn't tell me the range. So, I decided not to go through with the interview process. Everyone was nice, but it seemed weird that they couldn't give salary ranges to people applying.
- What motivated you to apply for this particular role?
