First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Direct Energy.
Contract Administrator
The interview process was easy, fun, and fast. It started with a phone interview, followed by separate interviews with three workers. One of them ended up being my supervisor. I really enjoyed working there until some structure changes happened. It was a fun place to work but changed sadly.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself?
- How does your previous experience connect with the requirements of this position?
Business Analyst
The interview process involves 3 rounds. Typical questions are asked, like your greatest strength. The managers are really friendly and make you feel at ease. You should be prepared to share examples of how you improved business practices and the positive effects you had on your prior team.
- What would you say is your greatest strength?
- Can you describe the type of work environment where you thrive?
- Could you share examples of how you've contributed to improving business practices?
Manager
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter via email. Although he wanted to connect quickly, he didn't respond for a week after I emailed and left a voicemail. During the screening call, the recruiter seemed overwhelmed or perhaps just focused on hitting targets. I found his lack of people skills and the way he asked about my past job tenures to be a bit insulting. Honestly, their disorganization and lack of follow-up have left me unimpressed. If the recruiting process is this messy, impersonal, and rushed, I can only guess how unpleasant the actual work environment is.
- Can you walk me through your past experience?
- Explain how your management abilities align with the requirements of this position.
- What motivated you to apply for this role at our company?
Communications Manager
Started with a quick phone chat with HR where I just went over my resume like they asked. Then I went in for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. That was more about talking philosophy on communications stuff, like what's current and what's not. They also hit me with five writing tasks, like fixing a press release, outlining a keynote, and figuring out if a briefing was good for the media. I had 30 minutes for those and didn't quite finish everything. A few days later, I chatted 1:1 with the SVP, which was mostly about seeing if we'd vibe and building some rapport. I ended up getting an offer though.
- Tell me about a time when you faced a specific situation and how you handled it.
- What are your aspirations for the next 5 to 10 years?
- Could you elaborate on the career progression visible in your resume?
