I applied online, and a recruiter reached out a few days later for a call to discuss my background, the role, and my schedule. The first interview was a short phone/video call (20-30 mins) where we talked about my experience, why I applied, and what I was looking for, plus some general fit questions. Then, I got a technical task, a take-home assignment, where I had to solve problems and explain my thought process; sometimes it's a live coding session or a practical test. After that, I had team interviews, sometimes one-on-one, sometimes in a panel, discussing my past work, technical questions, and how I'd handle situations (mix of technical and behavioral). The final step was a chat with a senior manager or leader about my motivations, career goals, and cultural fit. A few days later, they let me know their decision, making an offer if it went well or providing feedback if not.

I recently interviewed for an Engineering Manager position at Dashlane and the experience was quite disappointing. It started off well: I was contacted directly on LinkedIn, and the first interview went smoothly. The interviewer seemed very pleased with my answers, saying 'that's perfect' after each one. They also detailed the next steps and assured me they'd get back to me quickly for a second interview with operations. However, a few days later, I received an email saying I didn't fit the current needs, with no explanation. I tried to get clarification by asking for more details, but never got a response. Despite a second follow-up email, still no reply. I find this lack of transparency and communication regrettable, especially after being contacted directly by the company. It leaves a bad impression and shows a lack of professionalism in handling applications.

1st interview - HR: standard process and questions focused on soft skills and background. 2nd interview - Engineering Manager: Interview in English, the EM seemed unprepared and couldn't answer basic questions about the role. 3rd interview - Technical interview (dev): pair coding with two developers, the exchange and questions were relevant. 4th interview - Technical interview (data): Mix of pair coding and situational questions, very poorly organized. The whole process was poorly executed; at no point were the interviewers able to present the job and its responsibilities to me.

The whole process took about a month from applying to getting the offer. The recruiter kept me in the loop the entire time, so I never felt ignored. After talking with the recruiter and the hiring manager, I had to do a task where I wrote mock emails to a POC and then got ready for a role play. The hiring manager emailed me all the details and even gave me his personal cell number if I had questions, which was really cool. I got nervous during the role play over Zoom, so the HM suggested we turn off the cameras since they were important for the exercise. That helped a lot! He gave me good feedback, and I knew where I stood after the call. The recruiter also kept in touch and gave me feedback. The day before my final interview, the recruiter called to wish me luck and gave me a few tips. The final interview was with a director and an AE. It was pretty chill, but they asked thoughtful questions. This was honestly the best interview experience I've ever had with a tech company, period. Dashlane is definitely doing things right.
