I applied online and shortly after, Collective Health reached out saying my background was a great fit and they'd speed up the process. The next day, I interviewed with my future boss, and we clicked. They then scheduled me for a Monday interview with the wider team, including the CISO, engineers, and GRC team members, which took up most of my afternoon. Everything seemed positive. However, Collective Health went silent for a whole week. By Friday, I had to chase the recruiter for an update. They then told me they chose someone else, claiming I was too specialized and not a generalist, a point that never came up during interviews. I really wanted to work there, and being ghosted after a long, stressful interview afternoon felt disrespectful.

I felt like a really strong candidate for this role. After my initial application, I got an email in under a day saying I wasn't a good fit, which seemed crazy since I thought I was. So, I reapplied the next week and got an email to schedule a meeting with HR. During the meeting, the HR person seemed to know very little about the job, and even when they looked at the description, they couldn't explain it well. They even said the person hired wouldn't be doing what the job description outlined. It seems like HR is doing the initial screening but doesn't have a good grasp of the role, which is a shame. The pay also didn't work for me, but the main issue is that Collective Health's HR might be filtering out qualified people, potentially preventing hiring managers from seeing the best candidates.

It was a long but reasonable interview process, pretty standard for a role like this at a tech company. Started with a call with the recruiter, then the hiring manager. After that was a HackerRank coding challenge, which had 3 questions and a 60-minute time limit. Then I had 4 30-minute panel-style interviews. I had one additional interview after the 4 panel stage due to some organizational changes, but that interview was a quick 15-minute call. The recruiter was super helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. Interviews with cross-functional team members felt more like a conversation, rather than an interrogation session. Everyone I met with seemed to be very transparent, intelligent, and driven. I'm very excited to be joining Collective Health!

My interview process was extremely frustrating. It started with an initial phone screen invitation, but the recruiter never showed up. After trying to reschedule with no response, another recruiter reached out. The phone screen went well, and I proceeded to the hiring manager interview. The hiring manager indicated things looked good and they were considering making an offer or having one more team interview. Then, I received a third interview invitation, but was later told it was not scheduled for that time, and I had to reschedule. Again, my attempts to reach the recruiter were met with silence. Finally, several days later, a different recruiter informed me they would not be moving forward with a third interview. This wasted six weeks, and I was repeatedly led to believe I would be hired. Given their claims of rapid growth and hiring needs, their recruitment process is questionable. I've accepted a position elsewhere and feel I dodged a bullet.
