A recruiter from Collective Health reached out via LinkedIn. The interview process was really fast, which I was warned about. My first phone screen felt rushed, and the recruiter seemed to be in a hurry because they needed to hire someone quickly. Later that same day, I had another call with a different employee, and that went fine too. The on-site interviews were great! I could see myself working there because of the company's mission and the smart, nice people I met. I liked that I got to meet with about 7-8 team members from different teams, showing they are careful about who they hire. Despite a bit of running around to find interviewers, which is typical in a startup, I had a good on-site experience. I even had to come back another day to meet the CEO because he wasn't available earlier. This was okay with me and confirmed it's a fast-paced, chaotic environment. I was surprised I didn't get an offer, especially since an exec said I was over-qualified and I felt like part of the team. I was told to reapply in about a year, with the reason being they found other candidates who were a better fit. A few months later, a new recruiter contacted me about the Recruiting Coordinator role again, as it seems they hadn't hired for it. I was excited because I believed in the company's mission and was looking for work. However, the recruiter rescheduled our call just an hour before, which was the first sign of unprofessionalism. During the call, she was walking to the train station, which was odd and unprofessional. After only 4-5 minutes, she said I'd be a better fit for an Executive Assistant role, making me realize the initial email about the Recruiting Coordinator role was misleading. I didn't understand how she concluded I wasn't a fit for the Recruiting Coordinator role but would be great for the EA role so quickly, especially since I had previously expressed disinterest in the EA role back in August 2015. She mentioned she'd speak with the head of People and get back to me. The next day, I got an email saying they had made an offer to someone else and were in negotiations. While I still think Collective Health has a great mission and the people are nice, their recruiting process has really turned me off after two separate interview experiences. I'd advise them not to give false hope to candidates by asking things like 'When can you start?' if it might not work out. Denying candidates without clear reasons is unprofessional. They should be more careful in their recruiting approach, especially in the Valley.

I was sourced on LinkedIn and wasn't actively looking, but Collective Health really impressed me! The interview was thorough, and I got to understand their values and future plans. I met the Hiring Managers and asked them detailed questions about how I could contribute to the team! Things moved fast because they needed someone quickly, but it was the best move I've made!

You start with a phone screen. If that goes well, you'll have another phone screen with an internal recruiter. That recruiter was late, so we had to reschedule for later that day. The next time they called, we had to hang up because they were removed from the conference room. For the third call, the recruiter was really rude, kept interrupting me, and didn't know how to conduct a proper phone interview. Honestly, it was the worst phone interview I've ever had.
