First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Clariant.
Engineer
It was a simple process with just one interview round with the hiring manager. They asked me about my experience with polymers and lab tests like FTIR, DSC, and TGA. It was pretty straightforward.
- Can you tell me about your expertise in polymers and material characterization?
- What's your experience with FTIR?
- What's your experience with DSC?
Supervisor
Interview with HR and the company Director. They asked me to explain my knowledge in the area of operation and if I was available for traveling. Then they asked me about my challenges in the other company, my personality strengths, and the difficulties I had to face and how I solved them in the other company.
- Are you interested in taking on this challenge?
- Do you have experience in the field of operation?
- Are you open to travel for work?
Technical Service Engineer
The process usually has a few steps: first, they look at your application, then there's an initial chat, followed by a skill test, and finally, the main interview. You'll need to show off your skills, what you've done, and how you solve problems. They're looking to see if you'd fit in, how well you communicate, and if you know your stuff. If you do well, you'll get an offer and that's the end of it.
- Could you please give me a brief overview of yourself and your background, including any relevant experience in the chemical industry?
Senior Formulation Chemist
So I had a quick chat with the hiring manager, which was a phone screen. I thought it'd be more technical, but it turned out to be all behavioral stuff. The hiring manager told me about the job and the company, then asked me a few things. I also got to ask some questions. It was only scheduled for half an hour, so it was a pretty short conversation overall.
- Could you describe a formulation method you've used?
- What are some common chemicals used in liquid formulations?
