First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CannonDesign.
Design Intern
It was a really warm interview and casual process. After one meeting with a supervisor, two principles, and a misc. financial personnel over teams, I received a phone call a few days later confirming the position.
- Can you share your thoughts on the architectural styles (like healthcare or commercial projects) the office focuses on, drawing from your own experiences?
Designer
Had a phone call screening with HR first, then we set up a virtual meeting via a link. The actual interview was with three people: a partner, an architect, and another designer. We did introductions, I shared my projects, and then there was a Q&A. It was a pretty quick 30-minute call, and honestly, it felt a bit less interactive than some other interviews I've had.
- Can you introduce yourself and walk us through your projects?
Applications Developer
Recruiter chat, then senior dev chat, then met the whole product team, then met the CIO. Was told I was one of the last two candidates. Then waited weeks, and they said they still needed to interview more people. They asked for project samples really late in the process, like after all that. Then got rejected about a month later. Everyone was super nice and engaging in 3 out of 4 interviews, they seemed like cool people to work with. The whole process was a mess though - confusing and uncoordinated. Pay wasn't that great either. Don't bother.
- Were the questions more behavioral or technical overall?
Architectural Designer
Applied through the website and had the first interview in a couple of weeks. It was a basic, informative interview, nothing really job-related. The second round got scheduled in a couple of weeks again. A friendly group of people hopped on the screen, and it was a great time talking with them. They went through my portfolio and asked questions about my portfolio, prior jobs, and my reason for applying to cannondesign. Overall, it was an average level and friendly interview.
- What is your motivation for applying to cannondesign?
