The interview process included a round one assessment with multiple choice questions plus coding questions. Round two had two coding questions and 4 SQL query questions. Round three was an interview that asked about two questions and one string question, database normalization, operating system, and threads.

So, I got contacted by this recruiter from CalSoft on Naukri for an AIML Architect role in Kolkata, they said they were looking for an immediate joiner and would decide after just 2 technical rounds. This sounded good, so I thought why not. But then, what followed was just a chaotic mess. Instead of 2 rounds, I ended up doing 4 rounds, with the last one on March 24th, 2025. The interviews were with a Senior Architect, AVP, VP, and the AIML Track Head. After the third round, HR told me I was 'almost selected' and asked for my documents and ID proof, which I gave them. But after the fourth round, they suddenly said, 'You are neither selected, nor rejected. Team is looking at your profile internally.' This was a big red flag for me. I told them I had other offers with joining dates March 31st and April 2nd, 2025, and asked if they could speed things up since I preferred CalSoft. The next day, they called saying there was a 'mismatch' in my profile picture on my PAN card and Passport, even though they saw me in all 4 video interviews! They were definitely looking for excuses. I offered to visit their office to sort it out quickly because of my other joining date. CalSoft then just went silent and only reached out again on April 5th, 2025, asking if I was 'still open for an opportunity,' which was 3 days after my other joining date had passed. This felt super calculated. I explained my other joining was moved to April 7th, 2025, and if they were serious, they had to send an offer letter before 10:30 AM on Monday. On Monday morning at 9:45 AM, they called asking if I was 'still interested' and wanted me to email my desired salary. I did that immediately, asking for confirmation before 10:30 AM. No call. When I called them at 10:40 AM, they said, 'if you are really interested to join CalSoft, then you have to come to the office and talk to us,' knowing I was already at my induction for another company! They deliberately created impossible situations to ensure I couldn't accept any offer. They collected all my personal documents without any formal offer, which might even be a violation of data privacy laws. It was either extreme incompetence or a deliberate attempt to waste candidates' time. I was interested in CalSoft because their first two technical rounds were challenging and I liked some of the leadership. I prioritize quality of work, so this unprofessional treatment was really disappointing. If you value your time, avoid CalSoft's recruitment. They apologized later, claiming it 'wasn't intentional,' but their actions suggest otherwise. They even suggested we might 'work together in the future,' which I declined. No trust, no transparency, no deal.

The first interview round was really good and encouraging. The interviewer made me feel comfortable and created a supportive vibe. It's super important to know your past projects inside out - what you did, the tough parts, and what happened in the end. Being able to talk about your work and show your impact is key and makes you feel more confident during the chat.

The interview process for this six-month contract role spanned two days. I found the interviewer's conduct to be less than professional. He was typing on his keyboard while asking questions, which was quite distracting. The sound of his typing was also audible to me, which was a bit disruptive. It also felt like he wasn't fully engaged, making it hard to understand the role's expectations. Even with these issues, I stayed professional and kept my composure.
