I sent in my application online and heard back via phone and email after a few days to schedule a Facetime chat with a district manager. Because of Covid, I'm not sure if this would've been in person normally. The interview was pretty long, about an hour and fifteen minutes, and really thorough. A couple days later, the store manager at the location I applied for invited me for an in-person interview. This was about 10 days after the first chat. When I got there, the store manager gave me a quick look around the store and then we went to the back room where they asked me some questions. This 'interview' felt more like a casual chat and only lasted about 15 minutes. Then, I had to fill out a paper application and some forms for a background check. My total time at the store was about an hour and a half. The store manager kept saying things like 'when you work here...' and 'I'm looking forward to working with you,' so I figured I had the job. A few days after that, the district manager called to set up a Facetime interview with a regional manager. I thought this was odd since the store manager had basically offered me the job. But this last interview was only about 15 minutes and was mostly introductions. Right after, the district manager contacted me for references and said she was just waiting on my background check results. About 10 days later, I got an offer for a Key Holder position, with the possibility of 'eventually growing into' an Assistant Manager role. I was a bit annoyed because I had been interviewing for Assistant Store Manager all along and Key Holders make less. But I took the job because I needed one. The whole thing took over a month and was quite a process with three interviews, a store visit, and lots of paperwork.

It was lengthy but a company like this is worth it. They wanted me to also have enough conversations with key people so that I can also decide for myself. Not all positions take this long to hire into. I just happen to interview around the time when people were traveling so I waited for them to return. I met with HR and felt like I could ask any question without judgement. Very kind people. The company is everything I was expecting and they are happy with me also. I feel that the amount of interviews was great for this role.

I saw the ad on a website and the mall's site too, and applied. First, I had a phone chat with the store manager about typical retail stuff. Then, I met the district manager at a hotel lobby with other people applying. It was a two-hour interview, mostly about my past management work and dealing with customers and theft. They asked for an example of a tough customer situation. I'd researched the company, so I felt pretty chill. The district manager wrote a lot of notes, seemed like they were scoring me.

You need to go to the store and ask if they're hiring. Make sure you look presentable because people will judge you right when you walk in. Don't wear ripped clothes, and don't be pushy if they're busy with another customer. Wait patiently, then ask for an application. If they're interested and have an open position, they'll contact you or set up an in-person interview. They might also do a background check.
