First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brighton Collectibles.
Assistant Manager
I saw the ad on a website and the mall's site too, and applied. First, I had a phone chat with the store manager about typical retail stuff. Then, I met the district manager at a hotel lobby with other people applying. It was a two-hour interview, mostly about my past management work and dealing with customers and theft. They asked for an example of a tough customer situation. I'd researched the company, so I felt pretty chill. The district manager wrote a lot of notes, seemed like they were scoring me.
- Can you describe your previous experience in a management role?
- What are your strategies for customer service?
- How would you address incidents of theft?
Manager
It was a very intense and lengthy interview process. They took me on about an hour-long warehouse tour and I met with several executives and store management as part of it. The hiring manager mentioned the whole process can take several months on average.
- Were there any difficult or unexpected questions asked during the process?
Assistant Manager
I applied as a walk-in and got to meet the store manager right away. She looked over my resume and asked some general questions. Then she set up a phone interview for the next week. After that, I had a face-to-face interview with both the store manager and the district manager.
- Can you share some of your accomplishments and difficulties?
- Have you worked with client books before?
- Do you have experience in building customer relationships?
