The hiring process was a bit all over the place. It started with an introductory chat, then two in-depth interviews, followed by a psychometric assessment and a cognitive test. However, the way they scheduled and explained everything was messy and disorganized. There were scheduling mix-ups and last-minute changes. I kept getting passed around to different contacts who weren't on the same page.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • It was a very open conversation that flowed smoothly. It wasn't clearly organized into questions.

Technical Coding

First I spoke with a recruiter to align on expectations. Then there was a code review, which was pretty straightforward for senior folks. The third round involved live coding, and I was given a sample scenario beforehand. I had to pass 5 unit tests, with the last two being a bit tricky. I managed to complete all of them. Even though I passed the technical parts, I didn't move forward because the position was filled internally. I've heard this happens quite often here. The whole process took about a month of my time.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Could you describe your experience with live coding, particularly focusing on Java streams operations?
  • How would you approach solving 5 unit tests during a live coding session?
  • Tell me about your strategy for tackling the more difficult unit tests, like the last two in a set of five.

I applied online, and then had a recruiter call to go over the benefits. After that, there was a user interview for cultural fit. I didn't pass the cultural fit because my skills didn't seem to align with what they need, but they gave me good feedback (pros and cons) and explained why I didn't align with their situation. This helped me understand where I might have messed up, so it was still a worthwhile experience.

Behavioral Technical

First a recruiter call, then a bar raiser call with the hiring manager, and then an interview with two engineers. After the third interview, they concluded they wanted someone with more experience, even though my 4 years of experience should have shown from the CV that it wasn't a match. It seemed like there was no internal alignment regarding the candidate's wishes. Otherwise, it was a pleasant conversation with the recruiter, hiring manager, and engineers.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you describe a situation where you had to use your stakeholder management skills, and explain how you handled it?
